Coming to EnterpriseJS NYC:

We've all been there: your deploy process is too slow, too infrequent, too fraught with peril. You need a hero! We here at Condé Nast found ours in Flaggregator, a feature flagging service we wrote using Node.js, Hapi, Babel, and Flow that allows us to safely work continuously on a main branch and actually deploy more frequently.

In my talk, you'll learn how Condé Nast built this service from the ground up: why we needed it, how we designed it, what we did right, what we learned, and how we improved our deploy process as a result.

If you've ever wanted to know:

  • What is feature flagging and why do I need it?
  • How do I scale a large, Node-based, RESTful web service?
  • How do I compile ES6 to ES5 in production?
  • What are the benefits of new JavaScript tooling (like new ES6 features or type checking with Flow)?
